Bewdley Tunnel

Project Details

Rail works
Severn Valley Railway
12 weeks

The Brief

The works were completed within the tight timescale of 12 weeks to remove the existing track through the tunnel, excavate and dispose of the existing ballast and import new ballast. The scheme included soakaway drainage either sides of the track to aid drainage, and repointing works to both tunnel portals. New signal cable was installed as part of a complex Contract which had particular problems with access down the track from storage facilities within the old sugar beet site. The site was also vulnerable to theft and vandalism.
