The Brief

Works involved damming the existing River Churn and overpumping waters to allow the construction of scour protection stoning of the river bed. The underside of the bridge was accessed from the banks and gabion mattresses were used filled with large sized stone. The existing river bed was pumped dry and the flows overpumped with 3no. 8’’ diesel pumps. Damming was constructed using hay bales and temporary scaffold tubes.
